Full bodied beer with sweet wheat flavor and beautiful dense foam. Pleasant bitterness and unique spicy aroma with Orange Peel, Coriander, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, and Vanilla Beans. Available both in Japan and U.S.A.
Tasting Notes:
Pours....shit.....a rather herbal and smelly plumage of foam comes cascading out of the bottle and all over my late 19th century farmhouse antique table. bullshit. continuous foamage as you can see by the 5 inch head on my careful pour pictured below. wtf hitachino. wtf. why ya gotta do me like that. anyways, i digress. pours a rusty amber to light brown with a light tan head. Smells of sweet malts and herb (probably coriander). the two smells together give off a somewhat off putting aroma that i'd describe as some sort of solvent like solution. dry, herbed front with a creamy mouthfeel, somewhat saison-ish in that manner. Tart wheat, coriander and faint notes of sweet peach and dry spice. I've had better from Hitachino, although i can see how this beer is an appropriate holiday release. Those who did holiday spiced beer will probably like this. I didn't get any of the vanilla they said was supposed to be there, but the alcohol was sufficiently masked. sort of like sierra celebration with scaled down hops and higher alcohol. now if i could only get those bastards at Kiuchi to come wipe down my table...
