Day 6: 01.06.10 Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti

Great Divide Brewing Co.

Denver, Colorado

Oak Aged Yeti

Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Availability: October-January
Format: 22oz
ABV: 9.5%
IBU's: 75

Bottle text & info:
Oak Aged Yet is Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling. They may be from the same clan, but they have entirely different personalities. Oak aging gives a subtle vanilla character, rounding out Yeti’s intense roastiness and huge hoppy nature. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti?

Tasting Notes:
Pours jet black with a mocha colored head that calms down to about an eight of an inch where it clings to the glass. Oak everywhere. Smells and taste of all things oak. Thus vanilla flavor is front and center with prevalent chocolate malt. A little bit of solvent flavors and warming. The winner is that this one retains all the hop finish of the original Yeti stout. Not the biggest or boldest RIS, but the flavors are outstanding, carbonation is good and i love that blast of hops at the end.
