Kinston, North Carolina

Weeping Willow Wit

Style: Witbier
Availability: Year Round (approximate release statewide retail date is tentatively set for mid Feb. 2010)
Format: 12oz - 6pk
ABV: 5.0%

Bottle text & Info:
"This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say it's like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this refreshing beer."

Tasting Notes:
Pours a straw colored gold with little to no head. smells of sweet wheat malt and not much else. Taste is quite earthy and herbal with the usual suspects in the mix; coriander, wheat and heavy amounts of lemon. Not a bad wheat beer, God knows not many NC brewers pull this style off with any consistency. Areas for improvements? yes. Give me a little junk in the bottom. Too filtered lending it too light of a body with a bit of overkill on the lemon zest. Not quite weighty enough and a little bit too tart for what I consider a great witbier. This one's more a hefe, to be quite honest.
