Day 37: 02.06.10 Boulder Mojo Risin'

Boulder Beer
Boulder, Colorado

Mojo Risin'

Style: America Double/ Imperial India Pale Ale
Availability: Limited Release - January
Format: 12oz - 4pk
ABV: 10.5%
Malt: U.S. 2-row malted barley, wheat
Hops: Amarillo & Centennial

Bottle text & Info:
"A souped up extreme version of Mojo IPA. Brewed with over a half ton of extra malt and twice the amount of hops - then double dry hopped with Amarillo hops for added intensity.

Tasting Notes:
Pours a clear dark orange to light amber with a soft plume of white head. Nose is fairly mild. Some citrus backed by wet grass and a cider-like aroma that seem to crop up in Centennial based IPA's. Mouthfeel is silky smooth and fairly light. Sweet and tart hit pretty much simultaneously. Grapefruit coupled with sweet malts are pretty much the main dudes from start to finish. I'm kind of split on this one. Thumbs up for a super drinkable DIPA that's almost 11%! That's impressive. I will say, however; that after some greats like the Moylans, this just feel a little one dimensional.

  1. wow this one really snuck up on me. It has really youthful playful notes that suggest almost a barleywine quality. I wonder how this would age.
